Physician & Surgeon (IM/FP) - HQ Clinical Policy and Provider Support $302,424 - $317,556 annual (Time-Limited Board Certified)$287,268 - $301,656 annual (Lifetime Board Certified)$272,184 - $285,804 annual (Pre-Board Certified) California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated IM/FP physician to develop and update evidence-based clinical guidelines and tools, continuing medical education activities, and clinical policies and procedures to support providers in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's (CDCR) correctional institutions. Located approximately 15 miles south of Sacramento, Elk Grove is a friendly bedroom community featuring modern neighborhoods, excellent schools, and all of the amenities you and your family desire.
In this critical position, and under the direction of the Deputy Medical Executive of Clinical Policy & Provider Workforce Support, you will:

  • Support statewide quality improvement activities, including the development of clinical toolkits and change packages
  • Create and deliver statewide education on new clinical guidelines and processes
  • Develop clinical programs to identify, treat, and monitor patient populations with specific conditions; and provide consultation on these patients, including diagnosis, formulation of treatment recommendations, patient education, referrals to specialists, and monitoring patients' progress and outcome
  • Travel to CDCR institutions throughout CaliforniaWhile a California medical license and board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice are required, desirable qualifications include:
    • Experience in Program Development/Population Management in a Public Health setting and/or a Masters of Public Health degree
    • Strong primary care background and clinical skills
    • Experience in Quality Improvement and Disease Management
    • Strong writing and research skill
