We have broad expertise and experience with large and small public works improvement projects involving a myriad of public improvements such as street reconstruction and rehabilitation, roadway widening, slurry seals, stormwater, sewers, waterlines, utility relocations, traffic signals, street lighting, fiber optic, parks, building construction and rehabilitations, and other related improvements.

Willdan Engineering has current openings for part-time and full-time Public Works Inspectors in the City of Elk Grove, CA area. The qualified individual will be responsible for high quality inspections of various projects in conformance with plans, specifications, regulations, and codes during all construction phases.

Job Requirements

The Public Works Inspector, under general supervision, performs various detailed inspections of public works projects, reviews constructed items against approved plans and specifications to ensure contract compliance, prepares daily reports, tracks quantities of constructed items, and other related duties involving coordinating the work of the contractor and being field representative for the client.

Requirements include:

* 3-5 years' minimum experience
* Must have familiarity with the "Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction" (Greenbook), Cal/OSHA Construction Safety Orders, WATCH Manual, and California MUTCD
* OSP/QSD Certification
* Municipal experience highly desirable
* Traffic Signal experience is a plus
* Ability to read and understand construction plans and Standard Specifications
* Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with operating smart devices and computer

Primary Duties

* Review and monitor work as constructed
* Track progress and quality of construction
* Track quantities of constructed items
* Verify materials are in accordance with contract documents and approved submittals
* Assist construction managers and clients with resolution of field issues
* Coordinate with Contractor
* Coordinate materials testing
* Provide reports to the Division Manager on construction progress
* Qualified candidates will work on one or more projects simultaneously.
