As part of the commercial/retail studio, you will work closely with architectural designers, project management and studio leadership to play a key role in the uniquely collaborative design process delivering sustainable, innovative projects that are also highly functional. Our Sacramento Architectural Design and Planning office is looking to hire an Architectural Designer with skills and experience pertaining to the design and construction of retail and commercial projects. The ideal Architectural Designer will be a professional that is a self-starter; bringing energy and leadership to the team; has the ability to multi-task and prioritize; has effective communication skills and is comfortable working with all levels of staff, consultants, and vendors; and most importantly takes pride in work effort and product. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER QUALIFICATION: - Bachelors degree in architecture or similar field is preferred - 2 to 5+ years of architectural industry work experience working within an architectural office environment - Experience in the design and construction of retail, restaurant and commercial projects. - Proficiency working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 and Revit - Experience with site planning, exterior building design, as well as interior design. - Experience with city/county entitlement application and processing is a plus - Strong conceptual design ability and advanced graphic presentation skills - Knowledge of SketchUP, Photoshop and Illustrator (is a plus) - You express enthusiastic commitment to the multidisciplinary design process and team environment - Strong verbal and written communication skills, you are articulate, engaging and motivating ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES: - Under the direction of the studio director/ studio manager, complete conceptual, schematic, and entitlement deliverables (including renderings). - Prepare drawings of site, floor and roof plans, exterior elevations, building and/or wall sections and preliminary details. - Design practical and constructible buildings and site plans. - Code analysis to comply with applicable code and jurisdiction requirements. - Coordinate, schedule and check the work product of consultants - Prepare presentations and attend client meetings to present and discuss proposed design solutions - Develop color schemes and materials for exterior palettes. Research and investigate new materials. Assemble color boards. - Attend public hearings during the entitlement process - Conduct site visits to document existing conditions - Participate in construction document phase to retain design intent.
