This role is responsible for leading field crews, managing daily site operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone experienced in underground utilities, excavation, and site work who can confidently manage crews and production schedules. Key Responsibilities: Lead, organize, and supervise underground utility crews Oversee installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main systems Assign daily tasks and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and technical drawings Utilize GPS and laser-guided layout systems for accurate installation Conduct safety meetings and enforce OSHA safety standards Maintain daily reports including labor hours, materials, and production tracking Coordinate equipment use and material deliveries Communicate directly with Superintendent and Director of Operations Troubleshoot field challenges and implement solutions Ensure proper trenching, excavation, and shoring practices Maintain tools, equipment, and job site organization Qualifications: Proven experience as a Pipe Foreman, Underground Utility Foreman, or Site Work Foreman Strong background in excavation, trenching, and underground utilities Experience installing sanitary, storm, and water systems Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Knowledge of GPS layout systems and grade control Familiarity with construction reporting software Strong leadership and crew management skills OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Required) OSHA Trenching & Excavation Certification (Required) Core Competencies: Leadership & Crew Development Construction Site Management Blueprint Reading Safety Compliance & OSHA Standards Problem Solving & Field Decision-Making Written & Verbal Communication Active Listening Attention to Detail Confidentiality & Professionalism Work Environment: Outdoor construction environment Physical labor required Compliance with PPE and OSHA safety standards Alternate Job Titles: Underground Utility Foreman Civil Construction Foreman Excavation Foreman Site Work Foreman Sewer & Water Foreman Heavy Civil Foreman Trenching Foreman Keywords for SEO: Underground utilities, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water main, excavation, trenching, shoring, OSHA 30, OSHA trenching certification, heavy civil construction, site work, GPS grade control, laser layout systems, construction supervision, crew leadership, blueprint reading, utility installation, prevailing wage, pipe installation, civil infrastructure.
